Hi! My name is Gabi Cavalcante. I’m a full-stack engineer and tech lead based in Brazil, with 9+ years of Python behind me, mostly Django plus the data platform and infrastructure around it.
I work at Vinta Software , where I lead the Data Platform and Platform/Infrastructure team. The work is API orchestration, data ingestion, and keeping the platform reliable and secure. Before this team I led a full-stack App Squad building with Django and React, and my own focus was the backend architecture.
Some of my favorite work there has been the API architecture for our integrations with external systems, including direct trademark office integrations, which extract and normalize global trademark data at scale. I also got a report on a 25M-row PostgreSQL table down from an hour to under two minutes, and put together the technical evidence and architecture documentation for our SOC 2 Type II certification. More recently I built an AI-assisted code review skill that catches Django migrations likely to lock a table or cause downtime before they get merged.
A good part of the job is not code at all. I run 1:1s and career conversations, I mentor people, and when production breaks I run the incident and the post-incident review.
Before Vinta I was at Stone , building developer-experience and compliance tooling on the Governance team, and at Cloudia, working on the backend of an intelligent virtual assistant for medical clinics, where my part was tests, stability, and moving large amounts of data between services. I’ve also written Python for payment integrations, facial recognition, multi-factor authentication over NFC, and a smart city research project.
But, stop talking about work. I’m graduated in Information Technology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) with a Sandwich Degree (2015-2016) fully funded in France (Polytech Nice Sophia) by the exchange program BRAFITEC. I am also one of the founders of PyLadies Brasil. And I love coffee =)
